Mine is like that too. She is 3 pounds and she takes her food brings it on a carpet 3 feet away, eat it and go back. Its funny, I'm not the only one!
She loves when I feed her. At 5 months she eats about 2/3 of cups of dry food and I add one tablespoon of canned food. She is on a special diet! But she always had a good appetite
Your pup is probably getting use to your environment. With love and care things are going to come back to normal.
I assume at 6 pounds he should eat between 1/2 a cup to 2/3 a cup of dry food.
