I don't know much on the yorkie genetics to give a 100pct sure answer, but I can answer what I know of German Shepherds. I am going to assume all dogs, genetics & coats/hairs work in a similar way.

The previous 3 generations have a huge impact on your pup. Anything you find in those generations are possible for your pup, your pups litters and it goes on and on. Generation 4 & 5 have some impact but not as much as up to 3. Most breeders don't look beyond 5 as they feel it has no impact. When I bred Zoie I looked back 8 -10 on her & the male. Zoie is all Germany titled and the male was all American & Canadian champ best in shows which made it real easy to go back, both pedigrees were all titled.

Anything in the dogs bloodline has a chance to come up any time. Zoie is a saddle, the male is a saddle -generally 2 saddles produce saddle pups-Angel & Bear 2 of zoies pups are bi color. Zoie does have some bi color dogs in her pedigree,4th & 9th generations.

If there is a cotton coat up to 5 generations there is a good chance, if there are 2 cottons especially 1 on each side there is an extremly high chance.
