If dinner is at 5 then he should have pooped it all out by bedtime or at least be able to wait until morning. I would suggest giving him a quick walk right before you get into bed. You might also want to see if he is giving you any cues as to if he has to go at night. He is still small so he will learn.
I tend to walk Lulu right right before I arm our alarm at night and lock up the house.
