Take the extended and you can also sign up for their free edge card. That gives you discounts when you purchase things. With a used system take the longest extended warranty that you can afford. These machines are a bit finicky. How much are they asking for a PS2 now. I know that the PS3 is a bit finicky.
As far as the games get the edge card and watch starting that black friday in Nov. They tend to run sales if you buy two more more used games you get an extra % off or a free game.
