Apparently some members feel as though I'm exploiting my girls
So let me clarify a few things. Yes, I took Dixie out in public and I even brought Lily with me as well. And yes, I allow people to take pics because there's no harm in it and the girls LOVE the attention. And no, I am not putting them in danger because I do have rules. I don't allow them to take them from my arms or wake them up if they're asleep for starters. Many of these people are tourists or locals who just find it interesting and unique and I get the chance to educate them on the breed and on Yorkie rescue.
This area is known for having Yorkie BYBs and Puppy Mills. Many many people come up to me asking me where Lily came from and say they have been looking for one as small as she is. I use that as an opportunity to talk to them about how to find a good breeder to AVOID getting one like Lily. Once they find out how much her medical care is and how sick she is, they tend to listen. I even direct them to YT to help them learn more. I've even met some current YT members that way!
For those that are still concerned, well, I really don't care. So send all the nasty messages you want
I know that my girls live the life of Pampered Princesses and Lily helps prevents people from purchasing BYB and Puppy Mill dogs. When she finally crosses over that rainbow bridge, I will know that her life meant something. It's not a solution to the problem but it's a start.
