These guys are right. Scammers in general are not stupid. For every stupid one, you can bet there are a lot more intelligent ones. They do it because it does work. If it didn't work, it wouldn't be so prevalent. If one person out of a 1,000 or more bites, they've made a profit. It costs them next to nothing to spam millions of people with emails. All too often, they aren't even looking for cold cash, they are looking for contact and personal information - that way they can get a lot more than the $500 for the non-existant dog. A simple return email can give them an IP address and they go from there. Look at how clever our YT'ers are at researching people they suspect as trolls here on YT. I don't play with scammers.
