I don't shave, I clip with baby manicure scissors, around the anal opening....You do this to keep that area sanitary and free of those little ornaments the suprise us with.
I do begin shaving their pads and ears very young....at about 1 week of age.....first to assist the ears in coming up and 2nd to insure they have sure footing when they begin to walk....
