I stopped giving rawhide when I caught my Yorkie choking on one. Plus they get soft, are swallowed and are not easily digestible.
The "digestible" question is where you'll run into disagreement. I used to feed Greenies until there were reports of dogs dying because Greenies weren't completely digestible. They have since changed their recipe, but I'm still leery. I haven't tried Nylabone Healthy Edibles for the same reason. Do dogs really need to eat and swallow stuff that isn't food?
My advice is to get a tough chew toy that they can't swallow. A lot of people use regular nylabones, Kongs. I prefer bully sticks. They can be stinky, but they don't break down like rawhide and dogs love them.
