i did the designated meal time thing too, and i do suggest this for most picky eaters. however, like your yorkie, mine sometimes wouldn't eat one meal. So to see what she would do i just left her food out all day. She ended up eating when she wanted. Sure she would still beg for food from me but i don't give it to her so then she'd go and eat her own food. Keep a tally in your head of the amount of food she eats a day. if you put a half her food down in the morning and she doesn't eat it till say 4 o'clock and she ends up eating all of it then give her the rest. if she eats it, ok, if not doesnt' matter. she'll eat it later. She doesn't have to eat her 'designated amount' every day. if its out all day long and she doesn't eat it then she doesn't need it. she's able to self-regulate. free feeding is only a problem with dogs who gobble up all the food for the day with in minutes and then want more 10 minutes later.
