If your pup goes outside that could make the pads rough, walking on the pavement and such. There is stuff for the pads. I have even used a human product on Reagan and rubbed it into her paws but this was mainly to get her used to me messing with her feet. I would think that if you pup goes outside that there prob isn't much point to using something. I don't think it hurts them at all.
