Housebreaking vs. Being Away A Few Hours? I keep 4-month-old Dylan in a playpen right next to my desk where I work all day at home. I take him outside to do his business every hour or so all day till bedtime, trying to teach him outside pottying instead of in a litter box, and so far so good. He responds well to going outside. He sleeps in his crate from 9 PM to 5:30 am with no accidents.
But now, what if my wife and I have some place to go at night from maybe 7-midnight? What do I do to keep him on his housebreaking schedule? I don't want him "going" in his pen, and it's too early to put him in his crate.
What do folks do who have to work all day? How do they keep up the "outside" housebreaking techniques?
Thanks for any insight.
