Diggy had it when i got him....it shows up in fecal exams. Digy was treats with Albon drops which came in a pre measured small syringe for easy administration. The bad thing about coccidia is it does not always float in a fecal exam, give a a false negative test result. I took Diggys stool samples in once a week for 3 weeks after he finished his medications. I got lucky and it really was gone. You do not normally have to make an appt. with your vet for a fecal exam. I just dropped off the stool sample and paid 19 dollars and they called me with the results. There is a wealth of info on this site about coccidia as it is a pretty common in pups. on the right hand part of you screen towards the top there is a search button....type coccidia in the box and all threads about coccidia will show up. Izzy had coccidia too when we brought her home but she was acting normal so I didn't even know it. The vet tested her fecal and there it was - Izzy was treated just like Diggy and then we had to come back with another sample and she still had it so another round of meds we went. Took her and sample in for a third time and it was all gone and no problems since. She was not dehydrated or sick at all.....I was just lucky that I took her to our own vet the day after we got her. I also notified the breeder where we got her from to tell her what happened so that she could take care of her puppies that were left.
