I just posted in the general discussion introducing myself and my baby boy Spike. But anyhow, he has been sick for a while now. We have not even had him for a week and he has been in the animal hospital longer than with us. He is 10 weeks old and was diagnost with Coccidia. We had him for the first night and he was kinda sad, but we didnt want to stress him so we let him sleep. The next morning he was pretty playful ate a bit, but not enough. Less than 12 hours of having him we had to rush him to the animal hospital for hypoglycemia. He was at the hospital for 24 hours then released to us. He was his normal self again, but then he started not wanting to eat. So we took him to a local Vet and told us how to feed him by forcing him with A/D and Gatorade. He seemed to do pretty good and started eating on his own, but then he refused to eat. Then after forcing him he threw it all up and had diahrea. So we once again rushed him to the animal hospital on 10/24 to where is now. The doctors just called and said he had Coccidia. He did not want to eat at the doctor and had IVs put in him. Has anyone experienced Coccidia before and how long does it take to cure? Does it make them go into Hypoglycemia? So we have been some worried parents for our new baby and want the best for him. We are in the process of calling the pet store owner to see if he will help us with the medical bills since this pup was hospitalized twice within 24 hours of having him.
