I honestly dont know a lot about how revolution works. My parents use it for their yorkie but I always use heartguard for a heartworm preventative and advantage for a flea preventative (although I have used frontline before too and a capstar occasionally). I've always felt a little unsure myself about a topical heart-worm preventative...I mean, they may work fine, but I just trust an ingested preventative better for heartworms, especially since I know that flea preventative wears off with frequent bathing. But like I said, I don't know a lot about revolution and how it works so you may get plenty of protection from heartworms with that application for the month. I'd ask your vet because if they sell it, they should be able to tell you how it works and how effective it is with frequent bathing
