Are you saying the ones WITH the balls on the end rip the hair? Tatum doesn't think the ones without tips are better! Those brushes without tips are called slicker brushes and have very sharp tips. The way I understand it is that you're supposed to use those on dogs with an undercoat - which Yorkies don't have. I just know that Tatum really squirmed and fought me when I tried to use that kind. After I switched to a comb and pin brush (with the little tips on the end), she has liked to be brushed ever since. I guess you have to use what works best for you.
