My vet is really inexpensive - he doesn't charge an examination fee - he only charges for meds and tests. When I took Rowdy in for his shots, he clipped his nails (hadn't been to the groomers in a while) and plucked the hair from his ears as well as taking his temp, listening to his heart and lungs, looking in his mouth, and a general "pat down" plus giving him his shots. He only charged me for the shots, that's all. It was around $25 (I can't remember exactly)
He kept my sick schnauzer summer before last for 3 days, on IV's, while we were gone on vacation and then had to put him to sleep and the bill was $70.
He had to keep Rowdy this past summer while we were gone on vacation because he got sick and was stayiing with my mom who doesn't drive. He kept him from Friday morning to Monday morning, he had an IV on Friday and antibiotics everyday - and the bill was $80
