My friend's Yorkie just had 2 pups wednesday morning. She had a very hard labour and we ending up taking her in for a c-section after 3 hours. The vet gave her a shot of Oxytocin and the first but was born naturally with help from the vet but after 2 more shots and no more labour, the c-section was done. The pups are very healthy but were just to big for Mom. While she was in labour though, she lost the feeling in her right leg. We thought is was originally because she was exhausted but it has been almost 48 hours and she still drags that foot behind her and has problems walking. We think she must have pinched a nerve during labour. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if it healed on it's own. I hate having an animal put under for any reason and my friend is terrified of it. (She lost a cat that way)
Mom will have a check up with the Vet on Sat but we are really hoping to avoid anymore surgery.
