5 P's of Yorkie Training Patience: Please be patient with me, we speak different languages I might not understand what you are asking me to do. I don't understand many human words, but I am an expert at reading your body language. Please be sure that your body language matches your human words. Perserverance: Sometimes I understand what you are asking of me and I say "no". Please be a good Yorkie Parent and follow through. When you don't, first I get confused and then I will quickly learn that you don't mean what you say. Praise: This is the most important part. Please please please always let me know that I am on the right track even if I don't get things exactly right. Praise has many levels, a kind word, a pat on the hug, sit down on the floor with me and play my favorite game, a special tasty treat for those times I REALLY do good. Pee and Poop: When using the first three P's on the list try your hardest to avoid the last two. Especially if we are in a training session, I can't focus on you if I need to Pee or Poop, so please be sensitive of my needs.
Remember, everytime I am in your presence I am learning, please make what I am learning positive. |
