I'm glad I'm not the only one. Sugar acts like I'm torturing her if I try to get her to lay down. She does know how to sit but typically will only do it for a treat or if she thinks she might get a treat. She's really all about "What's in it for me?" I got her when she was older so she already knew how to sit but I know w/ other dogs in addition to the treat over the nose trick I've just tried catching them sitting and telling them good sit. They do eventually catch on. Good luck!
