I have been grooming my new girl Callie at home, and I think I took Turbo to be trimmed when he was like, 5 months? As far as how to cut them...it is all dependant upon what you are wanting, his hair, and the weather (with winter coming up, I would keep him a bit longer). Hope that helps you, oh and I think a lot of groomers require a bordatella shot to be there too.
