I would wait. Bleeding only happens for a few days. And if you can keep her from males 110% its worth the wait. My momther had a females sheltie spayed while she was in heat and after the surgery she never really came out of the heat (still bleeding and still swollen) the next morning she had passed away. We didn't know if it was something else (old age: she was 10) or if it was from the bleeding. But I would not take that chande, even if your vet is comforable doing the surgery.
There are cute pet diapers you can buy for her to keep her from getting blood on things. But being that this is going to be you only time with a female in heat i wouldn't waist the $. I would keep her on a tile floor and just clean up after her for a couple days or go get a small bag of baby diapers.
