Sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't. There is no definate way to determine their adult weight. I have siblings who were both just about 2 1/2 pounds at 12 weeks and now at 7 years of age they are 5 pounds and almost 9 pounds. That was their adult weight since they have been a little over a year old.
