Big Ohio State fans here. we used to live in a small town (Plain City) close to Columbus. you have the big city close enough and yet far enough to have the small town effect. the schools (when my kids went to school) were excellent. I also lived in Perrysburg for a while.(close to toledo). nice place also and Bowling green, Defiance, is close to there for your schooling.
kind of depends on what you are studying as to the school you want.
Lots of nice small towns and mid size towns to choose from.
tornados in the warm months and blizzards in the cold! but not too often for either.
i would say pick a school or job and go from there.
