I don't know really if there is something that we could have done different. I asked the vet that and he said that she could have gotton it from a grandparent. I guess that it is like humans we can get things that our grandparents had/have. I do know that Kahlie use to get into the cat food a lot. I had to end up putting it up and out of reach for her. She didn't eat it while we were home she ate it if we left her alone. So yes I do blame myself and think I should have done this or that or bought the best food for her. I do that that I felt better when the vet asked me if I had children and I said yes, and he said didn't you do the best for them that you could? That is all we can do it the best that we can. I will try to make her as happy as I can be.
