Well, Archie and Willie are twins so we did get two at the same time. They are super attached to each other but every bit as attached to me and the rest of their "people". I had read that getting two at the same time was a bad idea, but I think it may depend on the personalities of the puppies and the time you have to devote to them. Frankly, getting them both was the best decision we made.
Potty training two at once isn't necessarily that much more difficult. Sometimes they help train each other.
I know many people swear by crate training, I didn't go that route, but I did start them out with a x-pen sort of thing when I couldn't keep an eye on them.
You'll find lots of good advise here on training. The only real suggestion I can offer is --- be consistent, persistent and patient -- super patient.
