It would depend on how well he is eating on his own. Your friend probably needs to get some Nutracal and give the puppy some when he notices that it is not eating well. i give my yorkies just the tip of my finger. they make Puppy Nutracal also. sorry I'm not better help but without knowing how the baby is eating, it is hard to give advice. Most puppies are weaned almost by the time they are six weeks old. Does it have little teeth yet? The kibble needs to be moistened so it will be soft and easier to eat, then gradually take the moisture away. it could be softened with the milk replacer or water.
