I agree with 5 months old still being a baby, not old at all. There is no reason that he wouldn't be trainable. My Bella is nearing on 5 months and she always has accidents when she is out of her special area with her pee pads. And that is even with bring a pee pad where ever else we are in the house, its very frustrating but she will figure it out in time.

As far as the food, I have a multiple dog household and there is no way I could leave out bowls of food where the other dogs could get at them. Bella is the only one I have that is free fed and that is in her ex pen so only she has access to it. Otherwise maybe feed them in their crate and special area's seperately.


Just keep in mind that he is scared, he is in a new environment and needs time to get used to that, and then once he is comfortable that he is safe work with him like crazy.
