I also take them away when they get down to about an inch,Tia has a habit of chewing up until soft a long section of the sticks and then trying to swallow the length whole. I dont know how many times I have had to put my fingers down her throat to retrieve something she is chocking on! YIIIIICKS! ...that dog has given me more gray hair I tell ya!
So I supervise them when they have chews of any kind.
