We had the same situation with our little guy Hank. His testicles were retained and had to be removed surgically. In fact he had bladder stones at one point and they did both the surgeries at the same time. That saved him from having to have two surgeries. He did fine. We were also advised about the cancer risk by a couple of vets. He could never have been a dad but we weren't planning on breeding anyway. He did just great after the surgery.
