Thats the way i think everyone should do it!! I really dont see why teenagers think it is the parents responsibility to buy the NEW 16 year old a car. I am 24 and my parents never even thought of buying me a car. I had to buy one on my own and im very grateful for that. Having to save up for your own car at that young of an age teaches you the value of money and just how much stuff cost.
