As far as a Porsche, surly he was joking? Maybe he thought he's shock you by asking so when he asked for a Toyota it would sound very reasonable.
Wanted to add- if my daughter was the type who felt entitled to everything it would be a different story. She never asks for anything. I was trying to figure out what to get for her 13th birthday and she kept saying, I really don't need anything. I guess the decision is a personal one that has to be based on your own child.
