Why should parents buy their kids a car in the first place....convenience for the parents is pretty much the only reason. My son turned 16 last Dec. '06. He has walked the neighbors corn fields since he was 8 or 9 years old and picked up corn. I bought an antique corn sheller at an auction for $69 he would shell the corn, put it in a plastic tub and then we would take it to the grain elevator and they would pay him for the corn. He saved up his money. Last year was his first year detassling and degroguing corn. He saved up his money. He bought his own...very nice used car, paid cash and is now working a part-time job while keeping his grades up.
I always told him...your father and I can't afford to buy you a car...you want one..work and save up for it...he did.
