It really depends if there is alot of hardware on it, or what leathers or fabrics are used. I know mine is heavier because of the brass hardware and leather trimmings. I have a few hobos (suede, leather, satin) that aren't heavy at all, until I put all my junk in. The bags are expensive, but taken care of properly last a long time. The trick is going to the outlets when they are on sale + extra % off. The outlet also has their own line of leather bags just made for outlet stores. Signature items vary by store, and season.
