I'm going through the same thing right now. Jake is very much a mama's boy, so he's glued to me all the time. So, we bring Jackson home and Jake was very mad at me for two days, wouldn't have anything to do with me. It broke my heart! I was trying so hard to give them both equal attention, but of course, the puppy needs more attention because he's being potty trained. Plus, I watch him closely to make sure he doesn't get into anything or get hurt.
The only advice I can give is to be patient and give them time. At first, Jake didn't want anything to do with Jackson. Now they are playing ALL the time, and they seem to enjoy each other. They will even snuggle together at times. I make sure that anytime I pay attention to Jackson, I also pay attention to Jake and tell him what a good boy he is. Of course, when Jake sees me holding Jackson, he gives me "that look".....you know the one. It just takes time, but in the end, they become good friends and have so much fun together. |
