Since mine are usually done at home, I put the dam outside to run, so that she doesn't get anxious if hears pups squeel (and at time they do at times), but she's close enough to put her back with pups as soon as the procedure is completed. Nursing does comfort them. |
I had Lexie @ the vet yesterday for what I thought was a mammary problem (thankfully, she's fine) and the vet said like you do that it might stress Lexie to hear the babies cry. But I figured it would be stressful for her to be at home without them also...wondered which would be the lesser of the two evils. I talked to Lori (DaisyMae) yesterday; she gave me basically the same idea as you did, just thought I'd get a few other opinions. I'll be taking her/them by myself; maybe the office staff can help with Lexie. Thanks for the input.
