Laura, you will need to choose inside (wee wee pad or newspaper) or outside on the grass. It is almost next to impossible to train them for both locations. Dogs using wee wee pads, seem to have a hard time hitting the little pad with both pee and poo. They wind up getting fairly close, until they just find their own place to poop, (usually behind the furniture). Outside they have grass. Grass doesn't look like carpet, nor smell like carpet. Some people don't have access to grass, so wee wee pads are their only option. The only difference between wee wee pads and newspaper is the cost and the fact that wee wee pads have a plastic no leak film on one side. Both can be chewed up, so the choice is yours.
