I definitely know where you're coming from. The e-mail notification can be overwhelming. I've come to like it, though. If there's a topic that interests me enough to reply to, then I'm interested in others' opinions. If I don't get e-mail notification, I don't know if anyone has responded to the topic because I'm not online enough to see all the "new posts."

What's especially cool are the threads that no one replies to for months at a time. All of the sudden I'll get an e-mail notification on, say, the "man thread," and I'll know someone's talking trash about something.

I think it's a cool feature.
