I understand that feeding raw bones and raw green tripe is an excellent tartar enemy. So I have been raising my current puppy on a home cooked meal and then during the day he is offered a slab of stinkie raw tripe and often a raw meat bone. The trips has plenty of the good enzymes that actually kills the bad bacteria in the mouth and gut. It is supposed to be the best form of a tartar fighting agent. Who knows, he is only 23 weeks so we will wait and see. I do try to brush a few times a week, but he is teething now so he does not like it all that much. Plus the smallest brush is too big for his little mouth

When exactly does tartar start to form?
