Both times we added a dog, we introduced them OFF our own property - on neutral turf. It seemed to work out really well both times. And I've seen others recommend to bring a blanket that smells like the new puppy home for the older dog to get them used to their smell ahead of time. And then, of course, you can make sure that the older one gets plenty of attention, feeding them first and greeting them first, etc.
