When Bella was younger she was crated if we were out of the house. When we were home she would always potty in the formal living room. Yorkies dont like to potty in their living space. So, I made the area she had access to smaller. I kept all the doors shut to the bedrooms and bought a gate to keep her out of the formal living room. As soon as she was out of the crate she was outside. I would tell her "go potty"..she knew
this was not play time. When she went potty i would give her a little treat. I never brought her in or gave her a treat until I got 2 pees and a poop!! I also praised her "good potty girl". She would stay outside all day for this praise. My family would start to play with her as soon as they took her out and she got distracted. So i had to retrain THEM! She quickly learned "go potty". About 10 months old she would use the doggie door to go out when she wanted. No she is 100% potty trained. good luck with your furbaby!
