I have always cut Sawyers myself, and he hates it! I trim them almost every week. I have my husband hold him so I can take my time and be careful. I took him to the vet the other day for a different problem, and she said I will just trim his nails while you are here. I said o.k., and the vet tech held sawyer while the vet trimmed his nails, and she made three of them bleed!! I was fit to be tied. Sawyer didn't even cry, but I did. The vet said it happens some times and it is not really all that bad. I am glad there are three other vets in this office ( she is new ) because after I offered to trim her nails, she didn't seem like she wanted me as a client. My regular vet said not to pay, apologized, and told the new vet " this lady waited with her baby to be nuetered, took him home right after he came out of the anesthetic, brings in stool samples once a month, and brings us cookies at Christmas, and candy at Halloween. Her dog is the last one you ever want to make bleed, or even whine for that matter!"' He hugged me and assurred me it would never happen again. It isn't easy, but I would rather cut one nail a day than have my baby bleed.
