I don't think it will squish down that much...... while it is made of foam it is made of really thick foam.... OK I am heading out to try and squish it.

I checked it out. Now the base(bottom) is firm(not solid, as in hard) because all 4 sides are glued to it. I turned the carseat over and measured the bottom. It is molded for the console so it wont slip. But the bottom only measured 6 3/4 inches and them it like flute,maybe a tulip, would be a better example. Narrow at the bottom, but opens going up toward the top(sides) and the sides do have more give for the squish. So I really think you will be OK. It will just be a snug fit.
