Animal Smiley 019 Pill given before shots

Piper just got his rabies shot on Tuesday along with his other puppy shots. He just turned 4 months old and weighs 3.6 lbs. My vet always gives Piper and my Chi, Pixie, a pill before they receive their shots to stave off any reaction. Pixie had a horrible reaction to a round of puppy vacs. (not rabies)when she was a baby and had to be rushed back to the office and hooked up to an I.V. and given baby Benadryl for days (different vet). SCARED me to DEATH!! We immediately switched vets and this vet says he ALWAYS gives the pill to the little ones before giving them ANY shots. Haven't had any problems with Piper or Pixie with any vaccinations, including the Rabies vacs, (knock on wood) so I think the pill does make a difference.
