I don't think they are all that rare since sewing was quite a common thing to do, and the machines were built to last. We have one similar to the one you are describing and when I researched they weren't worth as much as I was hoping.

It probably wouldn't hurt to talk to an antiques dealer just in case its a rare model and could fetch more. I would think since it is such a heavy item listing it on craigslist, or in the newspaper might be a better choice as far as selling it.
