I have three Yorkies and three cats...they ALL play together except the oldest cat Lily(she's been through a lot of surgeries in her life and is very shy). They all love each other. If the cats don't want to play anymore they climb up high and the dogs can't get to them.
The ONLY problem I've ever had with a Yorkie and a cat is with Lily and Chloe, my sister's Yorkie. Chloe gets VERY excited when she sees a cat because she wasn't raised around them, and she would pee on my bed where Lily was sitting...lol.
I think you have an excellent advantage having the cat FIRST. That way the puppies can be raised around him/her from the time you get them, and they can be used to it by the time they're older.
