I would request Sevoflurane..a little more expensive, but it is the shortest acting and least harmful for the kidneys. I also made sure the vet intubated Bella and not the tech, just because their tracheas are so delicate. I wanted absorbable suture, so she didn't have to have stitches removed. I wanted pain meds given right after surgery, but only available if needed later (and she didn't need them). If there is more than one vet at the practice, make sure the one you want to do the surgery is doing it that day...they rotate usually.
Of course blood work is a good idea...and good to have a baseline later if needed.
