My guys hump around 9pm every night. There we are, my hubby and I, laying in bed reading - and there are our 2 yorkies with their "lovers" (stuffed), humping away. We elect not to try to stop it bc their nature is driving them to do it, for whatever reasons. And they also find it soothing, we can tell. Luckily, they have never tried to hump humans.
I figure they respect our "sex lives", so I owe them the same in return. LOL.
