MIne does that occasionally and usually it's because the bottom bobbin isn't threaded correctly. For my singer, it has a little 'hole' where the thread is supposed to pass thru before it is pulled up to the needle if that makes sense. If it doesn't pass this area, it causes the tension not to be right and bunches/gets caught like yours.
