I'm so very, very sorry your going thru such a terrible time. I know it's much harder on kids, as they just don't understand the "why" of it all.
We just lost our Chihuahua last month who would have been 16 years old Dec. 11th and our two Yorkies kept a very low profile and just wondered around the house and yard looking for her. They didn't even wag their nubs for two days. I know they felt our pain, and of course saw our tears. It's like losing a family member for sure.
