I would find out if there is an outbreak around you. If there isn't an outbreak there is no way I'd get it. The shot is ineffective in up to 30% of dogs. It has a high risk of side effects. It also lasts for 6-8 months usually. That would mean if you want to vaccinate for it the only way to be sure that your dog is protected is to get it every 6 months. My Yorkie reacted to this vaccine. We brought her home and 1/2 hour after the shot she threw up, collapsed and went into shock. Please be careful if you do give it. Don't go to far away from the vets if you give it for atleast an hour or better yet discuss not giving it at all with your vet. This vaccine is really beginning to raise questions with a lot of experts...
